In the Pyrenees
Tuesday morning September 3, we left our hostel or auburgue (after NO sleep, not dozing...just no sleep) and off we go. 11 miles today. 2500 feet up and about 1000 feet down. It was strenuous. The most altitude I had done in a day to prep was 1400 feet. Steve was like a mountain goat and had to wait on me. I used the excuse that I needed to look at the scenery, which was breathtaking, but when
I looked at my photos I must have used the stops to breathe instead of taking pictures.
When I say it was breathtaking, I am not exaggerating at all. The awesome thing was that the mountains were as stunning as the wildflowers.
Which brings me to a quote for the day:
What would be ugly in a garden constitutes beauty on a mountain.
-Victor Hugo
I love that quote...can be broadened to many facets of life.....
PS: I googled “good quotes for walking/hikes” etc and that’s where I am getting most of the quotes. If you believe other people said them, you may well be correct.
