First, we want to thank our great team of neighbors and friends for getting Steve’s car from our house on to the mainland. Second, good luck everybody. We are thinking of you all.
On Wednesday, we trekked from Roncavalle, Spain to Zibiri. The trail was rated a 3 in terms of difficulty. The hard part was a rocky descent. Short post today. Pictures of the trail and our hotel garden. Great hotel!
First off, it appears Wrightsville Beach dodged a big one. Still, we know others have not fared so well.... Our first surprise today was in a small village about eight miles outside of Pamplona. We rested and had a coffee. When we finally took off, we saw a young man we recognized. We looked at each other and said, Santiago? Sure enough, we called out Santiago, and he turned around and said, yes!!! We met Santiago and his walking buddy, Alexander, last year on our very first day and saw them both almost every day all the way to Santiago de Compostela. We got to know his buddy, Alexander better, but Santiago and Alexander were together much of the time. He became a familiar face after thirteen days of running into each other. What an amazing coincidence...to meet him again...on the road to Santiago..... First picture from last year. Second two pictures are from this year... We leave for Paris on August 29th and then start our Camino adventure from St. Jean Pied de Port on September 2. We think our feet are ready, our supplies are mostly ready.....It's an adventure.
