Meet Fellow Pilgrim, Will James

Before we begin our trip, we want to introduce you to our travel companion, Will James.  Will lived a life of curiosity and exuberance in Greensboro, North Carolina for 28 awesome years while his body dealt with muscular dystrophy.  A testament to his life and an article about his family are linked below (you may have to cut and paste the link in your browser).  We will walk with some of Will's ashes so he can experience a few of the many places that held his curiosity.  As a tribute to Will's life and his 43 girlfriends (give or take), we will leave a part of him in 43 different places (give or take) as our journey takes us from St. Jean Pied de Port, France to Santiago de Compostela, Spain.  We are honored to be able to share this trek with Will; he will forever be a pilgrim on the Camino.  Buen Camino, Will.

First off, it appears Wrightsville Beach dodged a big one. Still, we know others have not fared so well.... Our first surprise today was in a small village about eight miles outside of Pamplona.  We rested and had a coffee.  When we finally took off, we saw a young man we recognized.  We looked at each other and said, Santiago?  Sure enough, we called out Santiago, and he turned around and said, yes!!!  We met Santiago and his walking buddy, Alexander, last year on our very first day and saw them both almost every day all the way to Santiago de Compostela.  We got to know his buddy, Alexander better, but Santiago and Alexander were together much of the time. Getting ready

We leave for Paris on August 29th and then start our Camino adventure from St. Jean Pied de Port on September 2.
