Forest Gump and a quote from “Already Gone” by the Eagles

Margaret Robison sent a quote a while back:  “We all walk in the dark and each of us must learn to turn on his or her own light.”  Earl Nightingale.

I read that to Steve and he said it reminded him of this from the Eagles:  So often times it happens that we live our lives in chains, and we never even know we have the keys.....  The Eagles, Already Gone.

We’ve met so many people on this trip and if you’ve seen the Martin Sheen movie, The Way, you know that people walk it for many reasons.  To quit smoking, to lose weight, for exercise.  Some explicitly say that they are looking for life’s answers.  But most don’t.  And then you walk with them for a while and you find out so much more.  It’s really not about the weight, or the fitness, or the smoking.  Well maybe a little bit, but usually there is something else on their minds.

Make sure you see the picture below of Steve with the sunflower.  We are pretty sure Forest Gump came along just before us and made the smiley face in the sunflower.  There’s also a beautiful scene with Will.

Summary for today.  Climbed up 1600 feet, down about 1200.  Almost 15 miles.  Total of 74 miles.  (And there are so many calories available, there is no weight loss!).

Here are some pictures from today:

First the wildflowers.....
Then the scenery:

Off to Los Arcos tomorrow....
