Great thinkers and the laundry
This is part one of two posts for today, assuming that I get enough WiFi at our hostel. More on that in the second post.
There are lots of quotes where famous, brilliant people comment that walking is what generates much of their creativity and genius. One of the things revealed to me (just speaking for me, not Steve) on the Camino....is that I am not like them. For instance:
All truly great thoughts are conceived while walking. -Friedrich Nietzsche
Albert Einstein: the moment my legs begin to move, my thoughts begin to flow...

Mostly what think about is.... “I sure do hope I don’t twist my ankle going down these rocks and when I am finished walking for the day, how far away is the closest, coldest beer?”
Seriously, what I think about (when I am not obsessing about beer and not breaking my ankle) are family, friends, what an amazing experience this is and thinking about Will. Will James, who we didn’t know, but have the privilege and honor of carrying with us on this journey.
We left the Navarre region of Spain when we entered Longrono. Now we are in the Rioja region. Not being a red wine drinker (but if you read the entry yesterday, you know I can down some vodka!), I did have some of the Rioja yesterday at lunch and it was really good.
Our Queensland friends suggested that you start the day with a Carajillo. It’s an expresso with a shot of cognac...for breakfast. Steve says the Spanish are good at making drinking at every meal look respectable. For the record, we did not have one, at least not today....
Speaking of respectability, Steve thought he would get a haircut today. Check out the name of the place in the picture below:
We hadn’t had any laundry done in a while (probably why we weren’t making any new friends), so we had it done while we had the down day:
And I got a massage....it was awesome. Just head and neck. You’d think you’d want legs and feet, but my shoulders weren’t nearly as ready for a backpack every day as my legs were for walking. It was divine.
We ended yesterday with Helado.
