Technically, we made it.....

So as of about noon today, Spain time, Steve and I completed the trek from St. Jean Pied de Port to Leon.  Since we completed Leon to Santiago last year, we can say we have completed one full French Way Camino.  We celebrated with our friend Sandra, who took this picture in front of a Cathedral in Leon. A picture is of a plaque outside our hotel from last year and from today.  And there’s a picture of us celebrating with Sandra.

From today..
Celebrating with Sandra.
Sandra arrived from Madrid mid day today.  I encouraged her to do this, so I hope she doesn’t hate me/us in a few days.
She looks amazing, but especially amazing given that she just got off an international flight.

Just need to tell you a little more about Helen.  She is 75.  She was a hair stylist and based on her hair style (under the hat) she was a very good one!!  She walks fast and she can smoke me going up the hills.

So back to last night....before dinner we had drinks with our Danish friends, Werner and Anita and our new American friends, Scott and Joellen.  We ended up having dinner with Joellen and Scott.  They live in Boulder, Colorado when they aren’t traveling...when asked when they would get back to Boulder, they said, 2021.  Nepal is next.  Wow!

After dinner, we asked for an after dinner drink.  Here’s what they gave us.  Two bottles and associated glasses.  Oh my!!

Short walk today.  11.7 miles.  Total 302.  Here’s the sunrise and some pictures from the morning.  It wasn’t beautiful as we were walking into the city, but they did a nice job of managing the Pilgrims through a big city.

Man, she’s got a very large backpack.
 Our day packs are smaller.

Steve got a new hat and I got a haircut.  My haircut may have been scarier than the Camino has been.

Can’t exactly figure this out, but this is what we saw as we walked along today.  That’s all for today.

Rest day tomorrow in Leon...
