The long and winding road...

We didn’t get lost today, but I thought this quote was funny and was thinking about waiting until we get lost, which we will...but I just have to post it today.

Gunnar Kagge: I got lost here before, so I know where we are.

Today was a long day.  Almost 18 miles.  About 1600 feet ascending.  About 1800 descending.  Steve says that’s sort of FLAT, or downhill since overall we descended more than we ascended.  I don’t agree with him.  The longest part was coming into Logroño.  The outskirts are quite industrial so, when you are tired, you hope for something beautiful to make it worth it.  The inner city of Logroño is beautiful, so once you get here it is good.  But those last four or five miles were tough.  We have completed 102 miles so we only have 383 to go.

Normally, the first thing we do after breakfast is to buy water at our hotel to fill our packs (water bladders).  Today, the lady at the hotel suggested that we just let her fill them.  She did.  Mine tasted like salt water, so it was undrinkable.  For some reason, Steve’s water was fine.  He agreed that mine was awful, so it wasn’t just me.  We bought new water about five miles out and all was well.

Today’s pictures show the part of today’s journey that was pretty. More agriculture.  Grapes and olives.  And more fallow fields.  I also took pictures of the various different signs that we follow.  I have better WiFi this evening, so I posted more pictures than usual....The shadow pictures show us that we are going in the right direction.  The sun should always be over your shoulder in the morning if you are heading to Santiago.

First picture is of our friends from the Netherlands....Norbert and Miriam.

We have a down day tomorrow.  We will send stuff home that we aren’t using and now don’t think we will need.  And we will rest.....

Rest day tomorrow.
